The Glendale City Council has selected Councilmember Ian Hugh to serve as Vice Mayor for 2021. Vice Mayor Hugh represents the Cactus District. He was most recently re-elected last year. He has served as Vice Mayor multiple times in his council career, most recently in 2017. As Vice Mayor, Mr. Hugh will be responsible for performing the duties of the Mayor during the Mayor’s absence.

Vice Mayor Hugh was reelected in 2016 after being elected and serving in November 2012 to fill the Cactus District vacancy. He previously served on the City Council from 1986-1991. He was selected by fellow Councilmembers as Vice Mayor in 1990, 1991, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Vice Mayor Hugh is a longtime Glendale businessman and is currently a member of the Glendale Rotary Club. His extensive resume in leadership also includes the Glendale Union High School District School Board from 2004-2012, serving as President in 2011-2012. Hugh has served on several committees including as the Chairman of the Glendale Utilities committee 1989-1990 and was a member and past vice chair of the Glendale Community Development Corporation. Hugh is a member of the Glendale First United Methodist Church.
