Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (GAIN)

GAIN or Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods is a statewide event that is the result of a joint effort between government and community driven organizations to improve local participation and partnerships among neighborhoods, police, fire and businesses to reduce crime and increase public safety awareness. This annual event is held in October, in conjunction with National Crime Prevention month.

This year, on October 27th, the City of Glendale invites neighborhoods, businesses, civic groups and local officials to join us for the GAIN Kickoff & Fall Festival event at one central location, designed to show support, create new/positive relationships in the community and motivate leaders to go out and promote cooperative, police/community crime prevention efforts. This free event will have music/DJ, food/drinks, raffles, display & info booths, emergency response vehicles, fun activities for the entire family to include hayrides, pumpkin decorating and more.

Following the GAIN Kickoff & Fall Festival, we encourage the community to go back to their neighborhoods and host a block party/cookout/neighborhood walk for GAIN. to share and promote safety and awareness of community issues, increase neighborhood communication and send the message to criminals that they are organized and fighting back! This is a time to turn on your porch lights, go out into your neighborhood, and get to know your neighbors.

If your neighborhood is planning their own event for GAIN, please contact your GPD Community Action Team Representative to put you on the schedule for other possible benefits such as a Meet & Greet with Your Beat Police Officers, Community Action Team members, emergency vehicles for kids to see and more.
